EYE SEE U [PERMISSION POST]

So Apollo can be a walking lie detector at times! It is not 100% and most of the time he doesn't even attempt it because why. Also I just plain don't play it out a lot unless it's thread relevant haha.

BUT THIS IS A PERMISSIONS POST!! When Apollo DOES catch a lie he can see tells the person is leaving--a twitch of a finger, shifty eyes, scars suddenly becoming death faces! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.

So tell me what your characters' tells are! Alternatively, let me know if you DO NOT want Apollo ever picking up on a lie! As a general rule though if you don't comment I will always ping/pm you to ask permission before having Apollo see something and ask if it is cool o/ Thank you guys!

Most of the time, she's wears her heart on her... foreleg, but sometimes she'll lie if she's pretending to be fine when her feelings are hurt. Then her tells are pretty obvious: big, fake smile, high, fake-cheery voice, nervous giggles, that sort of thing.

Monty is something of a silver-tongued liar by his very nature. But his general tells include glancing to the side and pausing longer than usual to respond to someone.

kaworu skirts away from ever outright lying, but he's like the king of deflection, so that's a thing. he also tends to repress many of his negative feelings. in general, his poker face is the stuff of legends; but if he's hiding something, a tell may include curling his fingers inside his pockets (his hands are very often in his pockets), and breaking eye contact for just a moment before reestablishing it as he's going to speak. a verbal tell might be starting a sentence with, "oh, (vague, probably pseudo philosophical deflection)"

Charles Xavier rubs his hands together when he's nervous or anxious. I wouldn't call it a lying tell, but it's definitely a "hiding something" tell.

Obi-Wan crosses his arms when he's closing himself off or trying to distance himself. He's not an outright liar, but he does misdirect and have his own version of the truth.

Leto . . . would be extremely hard to catch in a lie because he's trained in the art of disguising his tells.

Cara doesn't make eye contact when she lies. But she rarely lies.

Hank doesn't lie so much as omit the truth or is incredibly vague about it. He tends to rub at his neck and fidget with his glasses if he's anxious.

Tempest lies a lot. She tends to close up physically when she's doing it, so crossing her arms, pulling up her hood, etc. She'll make very little eye contact while doing it, too.

Sora is very much not a liar. But if he does lie, it'll be so obvious it'll be super easy to spot. I'd probably point it out in the comments.

Allen tends to be pretty honest, but will avoid a lot of topics. He'll trail off, he'll look off in some other direction, fake smiles, etc. If he's truly devoted to not sharing a topic, he'll just...refuse to speak period. But that's pretty rare that a topic is serious enough to do that. But yeah, mostly his are just lies of omission.

Ahsoka doesn't really lie and in the few cases where she doesn't want to tell the truth, she'll either usually say something outright like "I don't want to talk about that," or just lie by omission-- saying something else that's true instead, but not directly answering the question. JEDI UPBRINGING MEANS EVERYONE KNOWS WHEN YOU'RE LYING, LOL.

Anyway she almost never has a reason to lie to people she doesn't know but if for some reason it ever comes up you have blanket permission from me o/.

Erik doesn't tend to lie, but he will avoid subjects. He'll flick his eyes away briefly if he's uncomfortable.

Stefan's typically an honest kid. He lies about being a vampire and a reincarnation, but I don't note those in my narration because it comes to him as easily as breathing. When he lies (and it's a lie he doesn't fully believe in and/or hasn't practiced to death), he'll bite on his lip and glance away from the other person.

Bridge is a fairly honest person, he rarely lies unless he feels like it's super necessary, but his tells are not looking someone in the eye and twitchy fingers...which is fairly normal for him usually, so it's harder to pick up on as a lie detector. But it's still a tell so it still counts!

Anders is a seasoned artist in the trade of lying. He doesn't have many tells, but he often gives fake smiles and offers shallow answers that are hard to question like i'm fine. He will also more often than not try to change the subject or divert attention to a different aspect of the conversation/the other person instead.

Apollo totally has permission to sense Yuan's tells, and I have actually thought about this!

When Yuan is not telling the whole truth and/or feeling defensive: he crosses his arms and turns slightly sideways.

When Yuan is feeling nostalgic and/or guilty: he twiddles the ring on his left-hand ring finger.

When Yuan is outright lying: his eyes lose focus and his expression blanks.

(I have IC reasons for all of these things. I am also thoroughly well-versed in AA canon, and will happily point out when there is a twitch to be spotted.)
